As some have already discovered, our debut album "Diffuse Interreflection" has been officially available for about two weeks. Our mp3-Shop (where you can have a listen to the new tunes) is open for business and the CDs have also arrived from the factory.
As you can only get the CD directly from us, we recommend that you make the most of the download facility if you live further afield. It's cheaper and faster. Either that or you invite us to come and play near you - hurray!
Those of you who have been wondering why it's been so quiet on the Western Front in the last few months maybe haven't realised that this isn't the only SpinCycle base on the web. Although you'd be right in thinking there hasn't been much going on gig-wise, at least we've got something to show for it. As well as our MySpace page we've now also got a fan page on Facebook. Just search for SpinCycle and you should find us. You'll find a selection of tunes from our new album, so have a listen and let us know what you think.
If you want to know how things are going in the studio, then why not surf along to our MySpace page and check our studio diary. We've even uploaded a few studio pics for you to look at. www.myspace.com/spincycleband
Just one day after St Nicholas' big performance we enjoyed our last concert for 2007 at Ebene 3 (Heilbronn). It was a chilled ambiance with about 40 visitors. But there were not only fans of us but also strangers that had the heart to listen to our frequency-mixture.
There was no difference between ordinary listeners, barkeepers or journalists: All of them agreed in the fact, that they enjoyed the concert. At 12.12.2007 an article in the newspaper ("Heilbronner Stimme") talked about "an unique and recognisable sound that continues." It's good to know that its not just us that like the songs we plan to record on our first album.
You'll find some photos in our gallery. Thanks to our photographer Faith!
We also want to thank Elke Bauschert and her Ebene 3 Team for the invitation and their hospitality.
After the christmas holidays we'll soon start with our recordings for the new album.
Anyone who thought we'd shelved our album plans got it wrong! We may be slow, but we make up for it in thoroughness. Our music may be British, but our way of working will seemingly always be German.
At any rate, tomorrow we'll be paying our good friend, Flo Ostertag a visit. He's got a lovely new studio where we're going to record the guide tracks for the album.
12 songs are planned and we'll be laying down the tracks in January.
If you fancy reading a lovely interview with SpinCycle (in German), then pop along to Sound7. Jule's done a wonderful job and written lots of nice things about us. We owe you one! Sound7
Well, what have you been up to over the last few weeks? Hope you've managed to enjoy the summer a bit. We've been in Croatia, Corsica, Morocco, Winnenden and the Swabian Alb...although never at the same time. It's been a bit quiet as of late, but news about our plans for the Autumn will be posted anon.
We weren't the only ones who were amazed at yesterday's turnout. Many thanks to all from near and far who found the club and came inside, rather than enjoying the fantastic weather outside. We were particularly pleased to hear some feedback about the new songs. "In the night" seemed to go down very well. It wasn't an easy decision to play so many "quiet" songs, but we felt they were appropriate, even in a rock club. In the Keller Klub we'll most probably be presenting our rock set. Thanks again to Volker for taking care of the PA and to Tini and Pami for "manning" the door.If you've got some pics you can mail them to us at info@spincycle.de.
Thanks to everyone who came and voted for us in Zwoelfzehn last Wednesday. We brought more fans along than any of the other 15 bands that were there, so respect! Now all we need to do is fill the place on 12th June.
Our third visit to the lovely, long-legged pink paddlers was well worth the trip. It was nice to get going again after our rather long Easter break and we were greeted by a full house and an enthusiastic crowd. We had a bash at covering "Das Beste" (The Best Thing) by Silbermond which was a moderate success and certainly went down well - being one of the few well-known songs that we played. The second block was lovely because we could really go for it and play freely. It's not often that you feel really free in worship, particularly as a musician, but Sunday was an exception. As Sammy couldn't play we were lucky enough to get Patrick Böhme to stand in. He gave a sterling performance and nobody could tell the difference. The girls made a bee-line for him after the event, so even that was the same as usual. Thanks mate, the check's in the post! Thanks also to Steffen from the FlaminGo team and a big shout out to Line of Vision and Silke from Hof.
If you're on MySpace and want to become our friend you can visit us at www.myspace.com/spincycleband. Our tour dates are updated more regularly than here, so pop by every now and then.
We've unfortunately managed to irreversibly delete all the older guestbook entries. It would therefore be great if you could spare a few minutes to write us a new one. If your entry was affected by the cock-up then please accept our apologies. This whole website thing is still very new to us, so we're experimeting a lot.
This Saturday we're once again off on a merry pilgrimage to the Nordalb retreat centre. This time the plan is to record live all the songs we're thinking about putting on the new album. Our live PA Bloke, Mr Daniel Kürtz, will be on hand, with a complete Pro-Tools system, so we can do some nice multi-track recording. After that we'll spend time editing, improving and shifting around so the final arrangements are as we'd like them.
After many, many hours of hard slog, sleepless nights and, possibly, missed lectures our new website has now been online for about a week.
Many thanks to our wonderful girls from Stuttgart Media College, Anna-Lena and Eva. They got an 'A' for this tremendous piece of work, so we're jolly proud of them.
Why not take a moment to browse around the site and if you like you can send us a nice little note. Just click on "Contact" and then choose between sending us a mail or sticking something in the guestbook for all to see.
Last Thursday we played at the Media Night and felt pretty at home amongst so much creative talent. Thanks must also go to the excellent support act who gave us the catchy tune of the week - "The Internet's for Porn, Porn, Porn." Thoroughly wholesome stuff.
We're in the process of planning our debut album. We've been playing a lot of our songs live for some time now and really we've got to the stage where we need to record them in their definitive versions. There's still a lot to sort out - how are we going to finance it? Can we sort out a recording deal? Who do we want to produce it? Obviously we'll let you know as soon as we know...
Ed tied the knot with Julia on 16th December 2006 in Heidelberg. The rest of the band were there to offer moral and musical support. It's even been said that one Samuel Brandt bore more than a passing resemblance to Kiefer Sutherland. It was quite a party and it's good to know that Ed's now in safe hands. So, from Sammy, Matze, Nasim and Alex, it's blessings on your head, Ed!
As winners of the 2006 Shortplay Festival in Ludwigburg we got the chance to record a new version of "Are you ready?" which also featured on our first demo. You'll be able to hear it on the new "G.R.U.N.Z.- Sampler Vol.5" and we wonder if you'll recognise it. It's the first official recording with Matze on Guitars and the contrast is really rather remarkable. It'll be up on MySpace soon... We played at the sampler release party at the Scala in Ludwigsburg, one of the town's nicest locations. Nasy couldn't make it unfortunately, so we unpacked some of our more atmospheric numbers like New Wine and What Remains. Probably not what the crowd were expecting, but we enjoyed it. Thanks heaps to Jen, Kirstin and Carlos who came especially and were even there at the Shortplay Festival too. That's dedication for you. Lucky for you there are some lovely pics. Pics
Yeah, this was rather different. Unplugged gigs along the length of König Street in Stuttgart on a cold and rainy November's day. Doesn't sound very rock 'n roll, but it was quite an experience. Most of the gigs were in front of shops or on a bandstand in front of the castle. The exception was the final gig which we played on the ground floor of Stuttgart's new art gallery. The crowd were a bit snooty but seemed to warm to us somewhat as we jammed about a bit. We certainly warmed to them as it was the only gig we could take our jackets off for. The big question at the start of the day was how are we going to pack up our equipment (including PA), transport it to the next venue and set it up again, all inside 20 minutes? Thankfully we had too lovely sound people who worked like the clappers and spent the day wheeling the PA from shop to shop. The day went smoothly, apart from one location where the police told us to stop making such a racket. Ah well, we were quite chuffed really, considering we didn't even have any amps with us. The cool thing about the tour was that some people even followed us around. We sold every last one of ou
The first day of shooting for our very first video went surprisingly well. I suppose, being a Britpop band, you have to expect rain, but we were really praying it would hold off for long enough this time. We were working with a team from the "Taube" in Heidelberg and they'd selected a rather interesting location for the shoot. We set up in an old Roman amphitheatre called the Thingstätte. When we got up the hill the mist was quite thick and it was all a bit damp, but as we set up the fog lifted and we got a good day's filming done. Hanna, the director, even suggested it was a good thing the sky was overcast as this solved the problem of shadow. Apparently she commented "Despite the horrible weather, a twisted ankle and runny noses you still all look great on camera." Well, obviously...
To see if the video ever gets finished just watch this space...
On 8.10.06 we played at the "House of the Lord" in Mannheim. This was one of the best gigs we've played so far, even though the "interesting" lighting meant that we saw very little of the crowd the whole night. We played to a full house who were obviously up for it. Who knows, maybe we'll be back there again. Make sure you check out the photos.
Beforehand we met up with a video team from Heidelberg to discuss the imminent shooting of a video to "Are you ready?" It's being directed by a lovely girl called Hanna who also took the amazing photos of our Mannheim gig. On 4.11.06 it's all systems go. Only the location still has to be finalized.Pics
The Shortplay-Festival on 6.10.06 in Ludwigsburg was a cracking night. We didn't go in there expecting to do so well but the jury reckoned we were the best, so a good result really. A big thanks to everyone who responded to our invitation, came along, prayed and voted for us. We felt the love!
